Multi-Function Switch Cleaning

Does your wiper/washer not work? Or do they work erratically? Maybe your high beams don't turn on. Or the highbeams only work with a certain combination of the wipers being on. Well, cleaning the multi-function switch may help! It gets pretty dirty in there from age so it's best to clean the gunk out with some electrical contact cleaner or rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol and a Q-tip.

Here's the pictures I promised, starting with removing the end cap:

The screw to remove:

Be careful with this step. The spring loaded pins will fly out if you don't catch them. Pull off the outer barrel, now you can see the ends of the pins sticking out the top and bottom that make the barrel detent:

Poke the detent pin assembly out either the top or bottom. There will be a spring and two end caps:

Pull the spring and rotating selector out:

Now it looks like this from the side:

And this from the end. Now you can see the contacts. These are clean, yours will be covered with goo:
